Food
Distributed over 32 million meals, including 272,000 glasses of milk supporting school feeding programs, and aiding farmers.
Housing
Built 192 secure homes with water and sanitation components in Haiti, Jamaica and Honduras, and provided solar powered.

Shipped and distributed $41.3 million in medicines, medical machinery, hospital beds, and medical supplies , including 1,336,000 face.

Hunger Relief & Food Security

Food For The Poor Canada prioritizes addressing food insecurity by providing essential meals to schools, orphanages, and disaster-stricken areas, building community gardens, and training farmers in livelihood practices. These initiatives help to alleviate hunger and implement sustainable solutions for communities in need.
IMPACT SNAPSHOTS:
• 32,775,299 meals of vegetable mix, rice, and beans to communities in Jamaica, Haiti, Honduras, and Guyana since 2010
• 272,000 glasses of milk to children in Haiti
• 4,245 bags of dried Canadian fruit

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
Project highlights include school feeding programs in Jamaica, Guyana, and the Bahamas, where students receive daily meals, and a school garden at Baramita Primary School, where students learn to grow food used in their meals. In Derac, Haiti, 120 families benefit from a community garden, while emergency food kit distributions support disaster relief efforts. Additionally, the GraceKennedy Foundation's Campus Connect Food Bank provides monthly meal prep kits to low-income university students.

Building Communities

Safe housing is essential for family security and community stability, providing a foundation for education and economic growth. Food For The Poor Canada builds secure homes with necessary sanitation and water components, and offers solar-powered light kits for families across Latin America and the Caribbean.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
Include the construction of 60 homes in Derac, Haiti, within a Sustainable Development Community. Prior to 2020, volunteer house builds in Jamaica were supported by Carpenter’s Union, schools, and donors. Homes were also built through individual donor contributions and a tri-country matching opportunity, including donors like Sally Fingas, William Rickert, and Greg Ferguson. In Haiti, homes in Barriere Battant and Boca Grande were built with support from Kevin Reynolds in 2020, 2021, and 2022, while two homes in San Antonio were completed in 2023, thanks to donor Jeffrey Brown.

Health

Food For The Poor Canada enhances healthcare access in the Caribbean and Latin America by building health infrastructure, shipping essential medicines, medical supplies, and equipment.
IMPACT SNAPSHOTS:
• Provided over $41 million in medical aid to hospitals and clinics.
• Shipped over 1,336,000 face shields and medical masks and over 200,000 hospital isolation gowns in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Built a health clinic in Honduras serving over 1,000 people across 6 communities.
• Provided 101 hospital beds to underserved hospitals.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
Project highlights include the construction of the San Antonio Health Clinic, providing local healthcare access and reducing the need for costly trips to the city. Medical shipments valued at over $41M have been sent through HPIC, while a solar water well was installed in Cayo Sierra, Honduras, benefiting a community without electricity or running water. A 4-week pilot Transitional Living Respite Program in the Bahamas supported youth with mental disabilities in developing independence. In Baramita, a 3-day mobile clinic treated 400 patients and provided hygiene kits. Upcoming projects include renovating the maternity ward at Mahaicony Hospital in Guyana, and menstrual kit donations through Help A Girl Out (HAGO).

Education

Education empowers children to break the cycle of poverty and build strong communities. Food For The Poor Canada supports this mission by shipping essential school supplies, constructing schools, and offering scholarships so that children can become the leaders of tomorrow.
IMPACT SNAPSHOTS:
• 27 schools built with Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation (HHJF).
• 38 early childhood education schools built in total.
• Provided 3,200 filled backpacks to students.
• Distributed 250 laptops and computers.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
Include partnerships with HHJF and volunteers to build schools in Jamaica and the creation of an agricultural vocational school in Honduras for grade 7-9 students with greenhouses for coffee, fruits, and vegetables. In Baramita, Guyana, a community library and STEM/TVET programming were developed. The Ramon Rosa school was constructed in Honduras, while the "A Device for Every Child" initiative provided tablets to Jamaican students during COVID-19. The "Give These Children a Chance" program offers scholarships to Jamaican students, and a Summer Band Camp in Jamaica promotes music education and career opportunities for at-risk youth.

Livelihoods

Sustainable livelihood empowers families by equipping them with the tools, skills, and resources needed to achieve stability and well-being. Through initiatives like agricultural projects, income-generation workshops, and vocational training programs, Food For The Poor Canada has supported sustainable growth and self-sufficiency within communities.
IMPACT SNAPSHOTS:
• Trained and certified 25 truck drivers in Honduras.
• Provided beekeeping training and inputs to 3 beekeepers in Honduras.
• Provided 13 coffee farmers with tools and training, including 39,000 total coffee plants.
• Supported the facilitation of women's empowerment workshops.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS:
Include beekeeping and coffee farming tools and training in Honduras, along with women’s empowerment workshops and the construction of a women’s income-generation center. Scholarships were provided for truck driver training, and a chicken shed was built in San Antonio for the community, with individual sheds for 12 families in Baramita, Guyana. Additionally, the Corn & Beans project was supported in Honduras, and an onion farmer received assistance in Jamaica.

Emergency Response

Food For The Poor Canada supports emergency response by proactively preparing for natural disasters and other crises, ensuring communities have access to essential resources when they need them most. By sourcing and pre-positioning water purification tablets, food, medicine, and other emergency supplies with our in-country partners, we can quickly deliver aid and address immediate needs using our established distribution networks. With active partnerships in 17 countries and the ability to create new ones, we provide vital assistance and help rebuild communities after disasters.
